Our Anger Management Program is designed to provide individuals with appropriate, constructive skills for handling anger-related situations.  We use both counseling and education to assist the client in recognizing their triggers and increase their control over their behavior.

The goals in this program are teach the client that:

  • Anger is a normal emotion;
  • It is when we act inappropriately out of anger that problems arise;
  • Anger can be used as a motivation for change and personal growth;
  • To properly channel anger in a constructive manner, a person must first allow themselves to feel  that anger; and
  • Failure to develop the necessary skills will result in continuing problems as a result of out-of-control anger.

This is a 10 week program that begins with an individual assessment performed by a counselor with the skills and training necessary to recognize each client’s specific anger-related problems.  Once the assessment is completed and the client enters the program, they will attend weekly group session addressing the following issues:

  • Defining and Identifying Anger
  • Origins of Anger
  • Reasons Why People Stay Angry
  • Effects of Long-Term Anger
  • The Goals of Anger
  • Positive Ways to Express Anger
  • Identifying Anger Triggers
  • Hidden Anger
  • Preventing Resentment
  • Forgiving Others

The Anger Management Program is offered at both our South and Ft. Bend locations.
